Phenylpropanalimine

PPA (phenylpropanolamine) was the active ingredient in many over-the counter cold medications and appetite suppressants. The Food and Drug Administration asked drug makers to remove PPA from its products in November 2000 after data showed that PPA increased the risk of strokes.

PPA was found in cold medications such as Dimetapp, Robitussin, Alka Seltzer Cold, Comtrex and Triaminic. It was also used in appetite suppressants such as Acutrim and Dexatrim.

Williams Cuker Berezofsky has successfully litigated and resolved many PPA cases and made appellate law favorable to consumers in the process.
