Civil Rights
Several state and federal laws, including 42 U.S.C. Sec. 1983, permit lawsuits for damages to enforce the Constitutional rights of citizens. Williams Cuker Berezofsky regularly represents plaintiffs on a variety of civil rights cases, including claims arising from:
- excessive use of police force (police brutality)
- false arrest
- malicious prosecution
- wrongful conviction
- wrongful termination of public sector employment
- violation of First Amendment (free speech) rights

Individuals who have been injured or otherwise harmed by a violation of their civil rights can submit an inquiry to WCB's civil rights litigation team, by clicking here.
